FREEDOM

"So if the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed." - John 8:36

When was the last time you felt FREE? When was the last time you laughed, jumped, played, or sang a song of joyful praise? For most of us, it's probably been awhile. We work, we take care of kids, we wear many hats, and there isn't a lot of time for play. But, when is the last time you felt truly FREE in your spirit, where you weren't bogged down by your circumstances or the weight of this world?

Christ came to set us FREE! He doesn't want us to live a miserable, frustrating life. Jesus said in John 10:10, "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full."

We are to give our brokenness, burdens and fears to the Lord and throw off the sin that so easily entangled us. Hebrews 12:1 says, "Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us," - Hebrews 12:1

We are to throw off pride, throw off self-pity (which is pride), throw off fear, throw off offense, bitterness, unforgiveness, and all the other sins that so easily entangle us. Jesus wants us to run the race set before us fixing our eyes on Him. He wants our walls to come down so He can heal our broken hearts.

These past 2 weeks, I have experienced so much freedom in my own life and my goal is to continue seeking freedom through Christ in every area of my life. We are never going to "arrive" and reach perfection but we should be striving to be more and more like Christ every day.

I encourage you to seek the Lord today and spend time in His presence. "In His presence, there is a fullness of JOY." (Psalm 16:11) Ask Him to help you throw off the things that are holding you back from true freedom and allow Him to set you FREE!

"It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery." - Galatians 5:1
